A 28-year-old man was seriously injured in the incident in George Street, Brighton, on Saturday morning (April 25). He remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Sussex Police have now confirmed a 36-year-old woman who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge.
“Extensive enquiries are under way to identify any further suspects,” a force spokesman said.
“The victim remains in a stable condition at this time.
“Officers are reviewing CCTV from the surrounding area and working to identify any outstanding witnesses who may be able to provide vital information to assist the investigation.
“Anyone with relevant footage or information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Bewcastle.”
