The victim of a fatal stabbing has been named for the first time.
Marcus Craen died in his home in Alma Road, Sheerness, after being knifed in the heart on Thursday, April 16.
Police were called to a property in the residential street just after 4.30pm to reports of a disturbance.
First responders found Mr Craen with an injury believed to be a stab wound.
A 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Sheerness, were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Both suspects have been released on bail while the investigation is ongoing.
The woman is due to return to the police station on June 26, while the man’s bail date has been set for July 15.
This week, an inquest was opened into the 56-year-old’s death.
Coroner Catherine Wood said: “Police received a report of a disturbance from a neighbour who reported a female shouting for help.
“Paramedics found he had sustained a stab wound to the chest.
“He was unresponsive, and he was declared deceased at 5.36pm.”
Ms Wood gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
The inquest has been suspended due to the murder investigation, which is ongoing.
The morning after the attack, two police cordons were in place with forensic officers working inside two properties in the street.
The first cordon was from Newcomen Road to Ranelagh Road, while the second was between Meyrick Road and Broadway.
