East Grinstead’s annual Bus Running Day will return this Sunday on April 26, with more than 25 heritage buses operating free services.
The buses will run from 10am to 4.30pm on routes starting from the High Street, which will be closed to other traffic for the day.
A range of destinations will be served throughout the day, with full route and timetable details available in a souvenir booklet which can be bought on the day.
The buses will operate to regular timetables over many of the old routes that used to pass through East Grinstead.
East Grinstead Town Council said the buses would provide routes to “the usual variety of destinations”, which last year included Turners Hill, Crawley Down, Lingfield, Godstone, Oxted and Edenbridge.
Shorter journeys are well suited for smaller children while longer ones are pitched as an opportunity to meander through the lanes and relive days gone by, with many of the routes also terminating at country pubs.
