A man has been charged with six offences, including possession of a firearm, an explosive substance and an offensive weapon.
Sean O’Meara of Ashford Road, Hollingbourne, appeared by video link from a police station in a grey tracksuit, alongside his legal representative and his mum, Catherine, during a hearing in Medway Magistrates’ Court today (April 23).

The 37-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, manufacturing/selling a firearm when not a registered dealer, possessing a shotgun without certification, having possession of an explosive substance with intent to endanger life, making an explosive substance with intent to endanger life and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The court heard the offences related to the possession of ball bearings and a chainsaw, and the making of black powder on July 7.
During the hearing, O’Meara, a gas engineer, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
He had legal representation from Nigel Leskin, while the prosecution’s case was submitted by Rajini Prashar.
District Judge Stephen Leake sent all the charges to Maidstone Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing (PTPH) on May 21.
The 37-year-old was remanded into custody for his own protection.
