Tyler Mighall, 27, a father of two who works in rubbish clearance, first had the words “Godfather of Brighton” inked during a difficult period of his life.
While on a recent family holiday to Turkey he added a second tattoo of that theme – a large ‘Welcome to Brighton and Hove’ design across his back, which he posted about on social media on April 19.
It forms part of his plan to turn his back into a canvas dedicated to his love for Brighton and Hove – with an i360 and possibly even The Argus logo his next tattoo inspirations.
Tyler said: “I’m born and bred Brightonian, and you either love your hometown or you hate it… well I love it.
“I used to hate it a bit when I was younger, and thought it was boring, but now that I’ve travelled the world a bit, I appreciate Brighton for what it is.”
Tyler, who has had other tattoos in the past, admitted the first Brighton-themed ink he got was impulsive.
He said: “I got the Godfather of Brighton one last year, and I guess it was a bit foolish.”
Faced with the options of covering it up, or committing to it, he confidently picked the latter.
He said: “It was either I get a massive cover up or embrace it, and I’m not really the kind of guy to get a massive cover up.”

The most recent tattoo, which he got at Poseidon Ink in Turkey, took three hours to complete due to the colours and size.
He said: “It was excruciating, I need to stop getting such bold colours as they hurt more.”
He joked: “I like pain.”
When he revealed his latest artwork to his family, they were more than supportive.
He said: “They think it’s hilarious because they know what I’m like.”

A proud Brightonian, Tyler said he feels a strong sense of belonging to his hometown.
He said: “I feel like I’ve completed Brighton, I’ve done everything here.”
Tyler has big plans to turn his back into a celebration of Brighton and his life experiences.
He plans to add landmarks including the i360 extending down his whole back with Brighton Palace Pier at the bottom, and the potential for a flock of seagulls.
But, it will have a twist. He said: “The tattoo of the i360 will have me standing on the top of it.”
Tyler explained that the idea was inspired by his own experience of standing on top of the structure in November 2025, an opportunity that came when his friend was working there.
Although he was secured with a harness, he joked he would have preferred something more dramatic.
He said: “I’d rather been given a parachute.”
When asked if he’d consider adding a logo of The Argus, he said ‘it would be rude not to’, adding that he would place it above the ‘Godfather of Brighton’ one.

He says the ‘Godfather of Brighton’ reflects his personality.
He said: “It sounded funny at the time, but I wasn’t really thinking straight.
“I don’t really take myself too seriously and I like to think of life as a joke and a laugh.”
But not all of his tattoos are for comedic effect.
Some of Tyler’s earlier tattoos hold a deeper meaning for him – such as a tribute to his late father on his wrist.
Mr Mighall, who is active on social media under the name @t.migzyy on Instagram, hopes to continue documenting his experiences online.
He said: “Follow me for more funny and foolish stuff.”
What does he love most about Brighton? The answer was simple.
“The seafront in the summer – that’s what people love.”
