Crews responded to a disused property on Bogleshole Road in Cambuslang after the alarm was raised at around 9.40pm on Sunday, April 5.

Operations Control stated that it had received reports of a fire affecting a large pile of rubbish within the building.

Four appliances were initially sent to the area; however, only one remains in attendance on Monday morning.

Shortly after the fire began, crews issued a warning that heavy smoke may be visible from the northbound and southbound carriageways of the M74 near junctions 2 and 2A.

The blaze has since been extinguished. Firefighters are still at the property monitoring the situation.

There are no reported injuries.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received a call to reports of a fire affecting a large pile of rubbish within a disused building at Bogleshole Road, Cambuslang, at around 9.40pm on Sunday, April 5.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the incident. One appliance is still in attendance this morning (April 6), monitoring the situation.

“There are no reported casualties.”
