Iqbal Singh, 45, abused his position at Phone Repairs and Vape Store in Cheam to groom and then vape a 14-year-old schoolgirl.

When she got drunk at a party and didn’t want to go home for fear of being grounded, she asked Singh if she could sleep in the shop but woke to find him raping her.

Looking at Singh, who was sat 10 metres away from her in court, the victim said: “The impact you had on me will be forever.

“It’s horrible. I can never unsee, forget or forgive what you have done, but whilst you rot in prison, missing the years you will blame me for losing, acting as the poor victim who couldn’t help himself but to rape a young, drunk and vulnerable schoolgirl, just know I am free.

“You have no control over my thoughts, my feeling, my life or my future – whilst your future is in the hands of the judge who I pray gives you, the vile paedophile, the harshest of sentences.”

Singh, who also goes by the name Tony, previously owned a vape shop in Hayes where he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in 2019.

Singh received a 22-year extended prison sentence after he was found guilty of rape.

Broad daylight stabbing

Jaheim Nyende-Horsford (Image: Met Police)

Jaheim Nyende-Horsford, 20, stabbed a youth in Derwent Street, Greenwich, on May 27 last year.

Woolwich Crown Court heard that Nyende-Horsford “held a grudge” after the victim had approached him in the street to ask if he had any cannabis.

He walked away only to return to the victim minutes later armed with a large knife and with a balaclava covering his face, prosecutor Gregory Wedge said.

Nyende-Horsford stabbed the youth a total of 20 times, five of the stab wounds were inflicted after the victim was lying defenceless on the ground.

Judge Ben Gumpert said: “This was an attack committed in broad daylight and in a public place, with members of the public including children understandably disturbed by the savage nature of this attack.”

The victim’s injuries included a 20cm laceration to his scalp.

Nyende-Horsford was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Domestic abuser jailed after appeal

Reice Bennett (Image: Metropolitan Police)

Reice Bennett, also known as Reice Taylor, subjected his then-wife to a “horrific campaign of abuse” at their home in Eltham.

The 28-year-old repeatedly strangled Eloise Bennett until her vision went black, hit her with a leather belt, threw a beer at her, punched her in the face and kicked her to the point of leaving bruising across her buttocks.

Eloise, 30, told this paper: “Anything could start it. One time I made chicken fajitas for dinner, that wasn’t what he wanted so he strangled me until my eyes went fuzzy and I started blacking out. I thought I was going to die.”

Reice initially received a two year sentence suspended for two years after he pleaded guilty coercive and controlling behaviour, assault causing actual bodily harm, threats to kill, and intentional strangulation.

But the sentence was referred to the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient scheme and judges decided the sentence should be increased to an immediate three year prison sentence.

Shop worker attacked schoolgirl

Mohammed Daqiq (Image: Met Police)

Shop worker Mohammed Daqiq lured a schoolgirl into the stockroom, locked the door and sexually assaulted her.

The 26-year-old worked at Bargain World in Sydenham when he carried out the attack, which left the 16-year-old girl traumatised.

In June 2024 the schoolgirl was walking past when Daqiq, who she knew from previous visits to the shop, asked her to come inside.

Daqiq locked the door and led her to the back storage room where he began to hug her, Woolwich Crown Court heard.

He ignored her attempts to pull away as he tried to kiss her, then sexually assaulted her and forced her hands onto his penis.

Throughout the attack the victim was telling Daqiq she did not want this and wanted to leave.

Daqiq was sentenced to three years in prison and will be deported from the UK.

A spokesperson for Bargain World said the business and its owners had no involvement in the incident, which was committed by a single employee.

Rapist used fake names to target teen girls

Scott Brand (Image: Surrey Police)

Scott Brand, 22, raped and sexually assaulted three teenage girls while using fake names to hide his identity.

He used the aliases “Oskar” and “Damon” to target victims aged 16 and 17.

One girl was choked with a metal object during an attack at his home, while others described repeated assaults that left them traumatised throughout their teenage years.

The first victim, who was 17, immediately disclosed the assault to a friend and later reported it to police.

She said: “I was sad, angry and scared; constantly on high alert, whether this be in public, or whether it was to do with the severe trauma I was trying to cope with.”

A second 17-year-old came forward days later, reporting violent assaults involving choking, hitting and attacks that happened while she was unconscious or asleep.

She said: “My views on how relationships are formed are now very distorted due to what happened.”

Brand was sentenced to five years and six months in prison.

Coach driver raped schoolgirls

Liam Ross (Image: Met Police)

Liam Ross, 30, from Dartford, paid a 12-year-old girl for sex claiming he didn’t realise she was so young.

Ross pleaded guilty to ten sex offences including the rape of a 12-year-old girl.

His offending took place in the borough of Bexley.

Ross said he believed the girl was old enough to consent, but rape of a child under 13 is a strict liability offence meaning the defendant’s belief about the child’s age or her consent does not factor in.

Judge Ruth Downing said she accepted Ross’ claim that he believed the girl was older, stating that she thought the same when she saw the victim.

Ross was also found guilty by a jury of the rape and sexual assault of another schoolgirl who was 16.

Judge Downing described it as a “difficult and rather disturbing” case, as Ross had pursued “lawful but inappropriate” relationships with schoolgirls who were over the age of consent.

He had received a letter from the police warning that his relationship with one 16-year-old girl put him at risk of criminal behaviour, but he continued undeterred.

Ross was jailed for 12 years.

Sutton drug dealer

Jordan Griffith (Image: Surrey Police)

Drug dealer Jordan Griffith, 30, from Sutton, was caught when officers were completing proactive patrols in Epsom and Ewell in October 2021.

They spotted a vehicle on Gately Avenue sitting in a lay by with its engine on.

After pulling up alongside the car and getting out to speak with the passenger of the vehicle, officers noted a strong smell of cannabis, and the passenger was detained.

As one officer searched them, Griffith made off in the vehicle and was swiftly pursued by a second officer, before being stopped and detained.

The passenger was found in possession of drugs and given a Community Resolution.

Because of the interaction at the vehicle, located drugs and an attempt to make off from officers, Griffith was then arrested on suspicion of supplying Class B drugs.

A search of Griffith’s vehicle, including the removal of the centre console and gear stick, found two ‘smell proof’ bags, containing several smaller bags of cannabis and a large sum of money.

A warrant at an address also found a quantity of cannabis, phones, SIM cards, drug paraphernalia and a safe full of cash – totalling more than £11,000.

Under the Proceeds of Crime Act, Griffith will forfeit £12,380 in illegal funds, in addition to paying £156 in fines.

Griffith was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Sex offender locked up again

Goherali Damani (Image: Met Police)

Goherali Damani, 60, of Pilgrim Close in Morden, has been jailed for breaching court orders.

He was previously convicted of sexually assaulting schoolgirls who were as young as 12 and exposing himself in front of women and children on buses across south London.

After that conviction in 2023, he was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order which banned him from using any public transport unless with an Oyster card registered in his name.

It also banned him from sitting next to any unknown female on public transport.

At Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court he pleaded guilty to breaching the order.

On November 18 last year he sat next to a woman on the 155 bus in Lambeth and had not tapped in with a card registered in his name.

Magistrates concluded he had a flagrant disregard for court order and so a one year immediate prison sentence was justified.
