Hastings Police carried out recent speed monitoring in Hastings, using equipment to remind motorists that “road safety is taken seriously.”

Hastings Police said: “Our Neighbourhood Policing Team is committed to working alongside our local communities to keep our roads safe.
“When we use speed monitoring equipment in an area, it’s part of our ongoing work to prevent speeding and remind drivers that road safety is taken seriously.
“Our visibility in Springfield Road and Harrow Lane was to encourages motorists to think about their speed, and while we can’t be everywhere at once, we can be anywhere.”
Hastings Police also issued a reminder that schools break up for the Easter holidays, urging drivers to watch their speed during this time.
They advised that residents to join or set up a Community Speed Watch group if they want to tackle speed locally.
They clarified that officers do not benefit financially from issuing fixed penalty notices.
Jean Leadbetter, a commenter on the Facebook post announcing the clampdown, said: “Thank you for looking after us.
“We oldies are not so nimble now.”
