The incident took place at Crawley Station where a man had an “unknown corrosive substance” thrown at him on Saturday, March 7.

He was attacked by three men and chased by the group, before he fell over. He was then kicked before the men fled the scene.

Emergency services were called to the station at around 11.20pm.

The man, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital with “potentially life-changing chemical burn injuries”, a spokesman for British Transport Police said. He has since been discharged.

British Transport Police has now confirmed one man has been arrested in relation to the incident.

The force has also released images of two men officers want to speak to.
