So when KFC launched the Cheesy Melt, available until March 22, I was intrigued to try it.
Pouring your cheese on or dunking the burger into it? How novel.
The burger itself is built on the familiar, reliable foundation of the Colonel’s Original Recipe chicken, with a hash brown for extra carb loading, lettuce for health and another slice of cheese for good measure.
The bed of onion chutney is where things start to deviate – a tangy foil to the golden topping.
I’m glad you’re given the sauce to pour on yourself, because once it’s on you need to eat quickly to avoid it getting too soggy.
Thankfully I have no problems in that department so I chowed down with relish.
The creamy cheese compliments the chutney and the hash brown (potato and cheese is a top tier combination) and I would definitely have this again.
Another perk is how customisable it is; you can go light for balance or absolutely smother it if you’re in full comfort-food mode.
Having some extra cheese sauce on the side means your chips don’t get left out either.
Winner, winner, (cheesy) chicken dinner.
