Fabio Botros killed his father, 57-year-old Emad Samir Botros Farag, after hitting him on the head with a hammer in their Brighton family home.
He also stabbed his mother with a kitchen knife, though not fatally, and attacked his 27-year-old sister, and an 11-year-old boy.
The incident took place at their home on Hartfield Avenue on April 1 last year, when Botros was 19 years old.

Now aged 20, Botros appeared today at Lewes Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his father, and grievous bodily harm of his mother and the 11-year-old boy.
The court heard that Botros suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, and that his medication for the condition was reduced in the months before the attack.
Before attacking his dad, Fabio was heard talking to himself.
The teen was in his room packing an extra bag for the trip to Egypt.
He was heard talking to himself saying “stop, stop, please stop” and “leave me alone.”
Following the conclusion of the court case today, Sussex Police offered a statement on the “tragic and devastating” attack.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the community for their support and assistance to police throughout the investigation.
“Fabio Botros has now received an indefinite hospital order in relation to the offences committed on 1 April, 2025.
