Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed that three Halifax branches in West Sussex and a branch of Lloyds in East Sussex are among 95 banks across the UK that will close by March 2027.

In West Sussex, the Halifax branch in Chichester will close on June 1.

Other branches set to close in the county include Horsham on June 2, and Bognor Regis on June 15.

In East Sussex, Lloyds Bank in Crowborough will also shut its doors on June 9.

The closures are the latest announced by the banking group, which will see 53 Lloyds branches, 31 Halifax and 11 Bank of Scotland sites shut their doors between May this year and March 2027.

Lloyds, which is the biggest banking group in the UK, previously announced a raft of 49 closures last September, including Halifax branches in Havant, Seaford and Hastings, and Lloyds in Lewes.

Online services and banking apps have seen falling numbers of people using bank branches in recent years, leading to an increase in closures from multiple operators.

The news comes less than two weeks after rival provider Santander announced it would be shutting 44 branches.
