More than 120,000 people are affected by the flooding, which has battered Morelos’ home city of Cordoba.
Colombia has declared a state of emergency after 14 people died from the worst floods on record, which have left 40,000 hectares underwater.
The Morelos Foundation, established by the ex-Ibrox player seven years ago to aid underprivileged children, is now at the forefront of the relief efforts.
Morelos said: “I am well aware of the situation in Cordoba and the Foundation is working incredibly hard so that we can help our people.
“The situation is very critical, and I, on behalf of my Foundation, am taking this opportunity to send this message asking for the support of the people.
“I will make myself available to everyone to help our people and would appeal to anyone who can help to donate or give clothes or food to the charity for us to pass it on.”
Morelos completed a permanent move to Atletico Nacional last month after a loan spell.
This followed an acromonious departure from Santos, with Morelos claiming the Brazilian club owed him money.
And he revealed he’s always been willing to play the villain on the pitch.
He said: “I’m a different person off the pitch, but when I step onto it, I transform.
“My teammates know that.
“When I have to fight for my teammates, I do it.
“When I have to fight for Atletico Nacional, I do it.
“Sometimes the opponent tries to provoke me, but I know how to handle those kinds of situations.
“The sour faces I make on the field are normal for me.
“My teammates know me. I’m worse in training, they already know that!
“Every team needs a bad boy—you have to have that kind of character in the side.”
