East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident at a building in Old Steine, Brighton, after a call at around 6.10pm today, February 6.

A fire engine was seen with blue lights in Old Steine at around 6.20pm.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said smoke from an overheating appliance triggered a fire alarm.

No fire was found at the scene.

The incident was deemed a false alarm.
