Gillingham have finally completed a deal to sign international striker Ronan Hale.

The Northern Ireland striker joins the Gills for an undisclosed fee – thought to be around £250,000 – from Scottish Championship side Ross County.

Hale, 27, was born in Belfast and played locally before a move to England, where he spent time with Birmingham City.

He had spells at Crusaders, St Patrick’s Athletic and Larne before scoring goals to help Cliftonville win the Irish Cup.

He played youth football for the Republic of Ireland before making his debut in the summer as a senior player for Northern Ireland.

Hale’s first season for Ross ended in relegation from the Scottish Premiership but he still managed 18 goals that season.

Ross has struggled again this term in the Championship but has netted 12 goals. He leaves Ross after making 68 appearances and scoring 30 goals.

The Gills had a couple of bids rejected before finally getting their man.

Ross County said: “We would like to place on record our thanks to Ronan for his efforts and contribution at Ross County.

Everyone at the club wishes Ronan all the very best in the next stage of his career.”
