Having previously visited in October, the 67-year-old is known to be friends with Dame Tracey Emin, the world-renowned artist who hails from the town.

Sharing pictures from her latest visit, she referred to her friend of 25 years as “a pearl” and “a precious necklace that has been draped around Margate”.

“What she has created in this community by the sea is quite remarkable,” said the ‘Hung Up’ and ‘Like a Virgin’ singer.

“She has an artist residency program where she invites young artists from all around the world to come and paint and live for several months, artists who otherwise would have no place to paint and develop their talent and be a part of the many exhibitions that happen around Margate.

“I’ve been there a few times now, and I’m always struck by the commitment and passion of all of these artists.

“Hungry, possessed, and extremely grateful to have this opportunity. They all have very touching stories to share and honestly it’s so refreshing to witness them working in such a dedicated way.

“Not only that, but the whole town seems to be inhabited and energised by creativity.

“Writers and performance artists, photographers, and painters. This is my idea of heaven.”

The American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress has scooped 18 multi-platinum albums during her career, as well as seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe for Evita and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Iconic figures Kate Moss and Vivienne Westwood have also been among the famous faces to have visited Tracey Emin’s art exhibitions previously in Kent.
