A yellow weather warning for heavy rain was in force across the county today, January 27, until midday.
Travel was disrupted with roads inundated with floodwater, forcing the closure of some.

A lane of the A27 near Chichester was closed due to flooding, with AA reporting four miles of traffic.
The A24 Horsham Bypass was also shut southbound.
Other roads impacted by flooding include the A264 near Faygate Roundabout, Horsham, Monkmead Lane in Nutbourne, near Pulborough, Yapton Lane near Barnham and the A271 Upper Horsebridge Road in Hailsham.

Southern warned railway passengers that they may be delayed by the weather due to flooding.
Trains were forced to run at a reduced speed in certain areas, including between Brighton and Haywards Heath.
A total of 24 flood alerts were in force on Tuesday morning. Flooding was expected in two of the areas – Barcombe Mills on the River Ouse, north of Lewes, and at Hellingly and Horsebridge on the Cuckmere and Bull Rivers, near Hailsham.

By Tuesday afternoon, four more flood warnings were issued for Lodsbridge to Shopham Bridge on the Western River Rother, Alfriston on the Cuckmere River, Lindfield Bridge on the River Ouse and Mock Bridge, near Shermanbury on the River Adur.
East Sussex Highways said it responded to 79 emergencies involving flooding, fallen trees and other weather-related incidents.
Brighton City Council warned people to stay out of the water and away from the water’s edge during the period of bad weather.

A yellow weather warning for ice has also been issued by the Met Office for Wednesday, January 28, from 12am until 10am.
The warning covers part of East Sussex, including Crowborough.
It states patchy ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces and injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are likely.
Storm Chandra is the latest storm to be named by the western Europe storm naming group list shared between the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands.
