A man in his 30s has died at a construction site on a large industrial estate.
Police were spotted near frozen ready meal manufacturer COOK Classic in Eurolink V, Sittingbourne, since around 9.15am today.
Officers shut part of the road and a neighbouring building site, where work to build a new cold storage logistics facility to store and distribute all their meals has started.
They were joined by fire crews and paramedics.
Now, police have confirmed that they were called to an industrial incident at the building site.
A force spokesman said: “A man was treated for serious injuries. He was declared deceased at the scene.”
His next of kin have been informed, and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been notified.
A COOK spokesman said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life at the construction site for our new logistics centre.
“Our thoughts are with the individual’s family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time.
“The relevant authorities and the construction company are continuing their investigations into what happened. We can’t comment further at this time.”
The fire service said it was called to the site 9.41am to assist the police and one fire engine attended.
HSE said it was aware of the incident and is working with Kent police.
