Lost Pier Brewing, based in Brighton, has launched a 0.5 per cent nitro stout described as full-flavoured and creamy – and it’s already gaining attention from fans and industry insiders.
The independently owned brewery, known for its beach-inspired branding and progressive approach to craft beer, sees this release as a major milestone.
Dan Gale, co-founder of Lost Pier Brewing, said: “We’ve been mastering our low and no-alcohol brews for a couple of years now.
“We feel like this is our very best version—and even the best beer, regardless of ABV, that we’ve ever made.
“Super proud of the team.”
The stout is brewed with speciality English malts to create roasted, chocolatey flavours and a smooth, creamy texture that closely resembles traditional full-strength stouts.
The nitro effect comes from a widget inside the can, which releases nitrogen when opened, producing the familiar cascade and velvety head.
Ben Gibbs, a social media and TV personality known online as @Sober_boozers_club, called it “the best stout in the UK right now”, sparking enthusiasm within the alcohol-free (AF) community.
Lost Pier Brewing has earned praise for its innovative approach and strong community focus from its Brighton base, where it works with local suppliers and hosts regular events.
This latest launch expands the brewery’s low-alcohol offering and brings a new contender to the growing nitro stout category.
The nitro stout is available at independent bottle shops across Brighton and Hove, and selected venues throughout Sussex.
Trade feedback has been positive, with praise for its balance and resemblance to well-known nitro stouts.
Lost Pier plans to release the beer in kegs early next year, following strong interest from pubs – especially those facing intermittent stock shortages from Guinness.
The brewery hopes its Brighton-brewed stout will offer landlords a high-quality, reliable alternative.
With Dry January underway and the low-alcohol sector gaining momentum, the timing of the launch could prove ideal.
