Pc Peter De Silvo, from Worthing, is alleged to have stalked a woman known to him for two years between October 2021 and 2023.

The 48-year-old is also charged with fraud by false representation, two counts of computer misuse, and five charges under the Data Protection Act, the earliest dating back to 2018.

On Friday at Staines Magistrates’ Court in Surrey, the Sussex Police officer spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

He then gave no indication of pleas as his case was sent up to Guildford Crown Court.

De Silvo, who was wearing a black raincoat over a white shirt, is alleged to have hacked accounts and misused police equipment like ANPR cameras to stalk his victim, the court heard.

He has been bailed with a no contact condition to appear at Guildford Crown Court on February 16.

Sussex Police have said misconduct proceedings will be considered after criminal proceedings have concluded.
