Police and paramedics rushed to the scene

A person has been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash involving a high-end luxury car. Emergency services rushed to the London-bound carriageway of the A2 in Gravesend, near Watling Street, at around 9.30am this morning (January 16).

Two vehicles were involved in the collision, one of which is believed to have been a McLaren sports car. Officers from Kent Police attended the scene, alongside crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb).

Traffic was held for a time on the busy route, with queues stretching back to the M2 and drivers facing hefty delays as a result. A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “SECAmb were called at approximately 9.35am today to reports of a RTC involving two vehicles on the A2 near Watling Street for Gravesend.

“Multiple crews attended the scene and assessed and treated three patients before taking one to Medway Maritime Hospital for further medical treatment. The further two patients were discharged on scene.”

All lanes were re-opened by 10.30am. Normal travel conditions resumed in the area soon after.

A police spokesperson added: “Kent Police was called at 9.27am on Friday to reports of a collision involving two cars on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near to Gravesend. Officers attended with colleagues from SECAmb and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

“All lanes are now open.”
