Police and paramedics rushed to the scene near the Port of Dover

A man in his 40s has died following a “medical incident” on the A2 in Dover. The A2 Jubilee Way was shut in both directions between the A258 (Swingate) and A256 (Waldershare), close to the Port of Dover shortly before 7.30am this morning (January 9).

National Highways soon confirmed a single-vehicle collision had taken place. Officers from Kent Police and paramedics rushed to the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 7.26am on Friday, January 9 to a medical incident on the coast-bound carriageway of the A2 near Whitfield, Dover. Officers and paramedics attended and a man in his 40s was confirmed deceased.”

National Highways said an air ambulance had been called to the incident. Drivers were diverted via local routes while the closure remained in place.

The A2 re-opened in both directions and normal travel conditions resumed in the area at approximately 10.30am. A spokesperson for National Highways added at the time: “Thank you for your patience, please have a safe onward journey.”
