Met Police officer caught drink driving in Bromley sacked - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates

PC George Massey had been behind the wheel of a Kia in London Road on October 29 when he failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

In custody he provided a second test which showed he had 43 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

At Bexley Magistrates’ Court on November 14 he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Massey was sentenced to a one-year driving ban and £120 fine.

He will also have to pay £85 in costs and a £48 victim surcharge.

A Met Police misconduct panel decided on December 22 that Massey should be dismissed from the force without notice.

Commander Stephen Clayman said: “PC Massey has pleaded guilty to a criminal offence.

“Officers are there to uphold the law and not to break it. PC Massey was responsible for his own actions.”

Massey will be placed on the College of Policing’s barred list.
