The Carrick Stone, located on Teviot Walk near the Antonine Shopping Centre, has announced that Sunday, January 4, 2026, will be its final day of trading. The confirmation came after the venue shared a video on TikTok showing the inside of the pub ahead of its closure.
The video was captioned: “Sunday, January 4, 2026 is last orders in the Carrick Stone Wetherspoons. Visit this weekend – end of an era,” alongside a series of hashtags marking the goodbye.
The post prompted fresh reaction from locals, with one person commenting: “Will be a major loss in Cumbernauld. Hardly any pubs left.” Others have previously raised concerns about the lack of social spaces remaining in the town following the closure.
Wetherspoons confirmed last year that the decision to shut the pub was made on commercial grounds, adding that all staff would be offered positions at other venues within the chain.
In June, a Wetherspoons spokesperson told the Glasgow Times: “We can confirm that the Carrick Stone will close in January.
“This is a commercial decision made by the company.
“We understand that staff and customers will be disappointed with the decision and thank them for their loyal service and custom.
“All staff will be offered jobs at other Wetherspoons pubs.”
