At around 4.35pm on Friday (December 26) the police vehicle responding to an emergency call was involved in a collision in Bridge Road, Littlehampton.
Sussex Police said the police vehicle collided with a barrier while attempting to pass a car being driven by a member of the public.
No injuries have been reported or arrests made and the circumstances of the situation are being reviewed, police said.
