Police were called to a disturbance after a man pushed a member of staff
Two PSNI officers were left injured after responding to an incident in Belfast city centre.
Police received a report of a man causing a disturbance at premises in the Edward Street area shortly after 9.15pm on Saturday, December 27.
The officers were ‘kicked, grabbed and pushed’ by the man, aged in his 50s, as they tried to arrest him.

Inspector Knowles said: “It was also reported that the man pushed a member of staff, and had a glass bottle in his hand. Police officers attended the scene, and the man reportedly assaulted two officers by kicking, grabbing and pushing them.
“Both officers sustained minor injuries to their arms and a hands as a result of the incident.
“Fortunately, they were able to continue on duty. However, I want to stress that whilst police officers come to work knowing, on any given day, they could be faced with difficult and dangerous situations, it is completely unacceptable to be assaulted. “To those who think this behaviour is acceptable – it is not. It is completely unacceptable and assaults on officers cannot be seen as being ‘part of the job’. “A man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of common assault, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, disorderly behaviour, resisting police, and assault on police. “He was subsequently released on bail to allow for further police enquiries. “Enquiries are continuing, and anyone who might have any information which could help is asked to contact 101, and quote reference number 1421 of 27/12/25.”
