Emergency services were called to a report that a woman had been stabbed in the leg on Terminus Road, Eastbourne, at around 8.30 pm on Monday, December 15.
A police cordon was set up outside Poundland on Terminus Road last night.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment, but police said that she has since been discharged.
An 18-year-old man, from Eastbourne, has now been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
He remains in custody at this time, police added.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
“If you have any information or footage, and haven’t yet spoke with officers, please make a report online or call 101, quoting serial 1276 of 15/12.”
