A ‘much-loved’ husband is among those being remembered in the latest death and funeral notices for Kent. Robert Scot Michel passed away in hospital at the start of November, his family and friends will miss him dearly and have asked for donations in his memory to go Cancer Research UK.

Paul CHEVALIER

AUFWIEDERSEHEN HERR CHEV. Paul Chevalier, who has died at the age of 86, taught German at Clarendon House and then Chatham House for over 40 years.

He arrived in Thanet with his German wife in 1964, after spending two exhilarating years in West Berlin at the height of the Cold War. At the girls’ school, where he was christened Herr Chev, he also taught guitar and over 20 + years he formed a succession of music groups that performed at school concerts. In the 70’s he led the German school exchange to Koblenz annually. Through this, he formed life long friendships with the German exchange leaders.

Outside school he devoted much of his time to his music and regularly performed at various folk clubs in Kent. He formed several bands including most recently Miscellany. He is survived by his two beloved children, Bärbel and Stefan.

He will be greatly missed. His funeral will take place at Thanet Crematorium on Thursday, December 18 at 3pm. All are welcome to attend.

Sandra DUNCOMBE

Sadly passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, aged 78 years. The Service will take place at Thanet Crematorium on Monday, December 8 at 12pm. Donations, if wished, to Motor Neurone Disease Association, c/o H. R. Palmer Funeral Directors, 30 Hardres Street, Ramsgate CT11 8QF.

Brian GODDEN

We announce the passing of Brian Godden on November 10, 2025 aged 93 years. Brian was a very keen Member of the local White Cliffs Ramblers Group and an advocate of walking for health. Not only for physical health but also for mental wellbeing.

Catherine Joan (Joan / Ginger Granny) HAMILTON-SMITH

Catherine Joan ‘Ginger Granny’ Hamilton-Smith passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025 aged 72. Joan was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 1pm at the Kent and Sussex Crematorium. Robert Scot MICHEL

Robert Scot Michel passed away at the QEQM Hospital on November 1, 2025, aged 69 years. Much loved husband to Lisa who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Kathleen NASH

Kathleen Nash sadly passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 aged 86 years. The Service will take place at Thanet Crematorium on Tuesday, December 16 at 11am. Donations for the British Heart Foundation c/o H. R. Palmer Funeral Directors, Ramsgate CT11 8QF – 01843 592720

Janet Ann WILCOX

Janet Ann Wilcox sadly passed away on November 27, 2025. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. The funeral will take place at 11am on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Holy Trinity Church, East Peckham.
