Police and paramedics rushed to the scene at Snodland station

A person has sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a train in Snodland on Friday morning (December 5).

Southeastern confirmed shortly after 10am that services had been suspended between Strood and Maidstone West following a report of a person being struck by a train.

All lines were subsequently blocked as emergency services rushed to the scene, including officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) and paramedics. Replacement buses were arranged while the service disruption continued.

An initial online update from the rail operator stated: “Sadly we have received a report of a person being struck by a train between Strood and Maidstone West. All lines are blocked. More to follow.”

A spokesperson for BTP said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at 10.15am today (5 December) at Snodland Railway Station.

“Officers and paramedics attended and a person was taken to hospital for medical treatment with life-threatening injuries. The incident is not thought to be suspicious.”

All lines were re-opened between Strood and Maidstone West shortly before midday. Some services saw residual delays as Southeastern worked to resume the regular timetable.
