The Met Office has warned that “strong and gusty winds” could cause disruption to travel and impact power across Sussex.

The warning came into force yesterday, September 14, at 8pm and will remain in place until 6pm today, September 15.

The forecaster said delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, with the coast affected by spray and large waves.

It also warned that some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Strong west or southwesterly winds will arrive across coastal areas of southwest England and Wales during Sunday evening, then develop more widely inland during Monday morning.

“Gusts of 45-55 miles per hour are expected widely inland, with gusts of 60-70 miles per hour possible at times along exposed coasts and hills.

“Winds will only slowly ease from the west later in the afternoon and into Monday evening.”
