Winger Jack Nolan has found a new club after his contract at Gillingham was recently terminated.
The 24-year-old put an end to a disappointing spell with the Gills on September 1 and has now joined National League side Morecambe.
Nolan moved to Priestfield for an undisclosed fee after scoring 17 goals in one season for Accrington Stanley. He’d been a regular goal provider too – stats that led the Gills to make their move last summer.
The switch didn’t work out, however, despite a promising start after scoring on his league debut for the Gills in an opening-day win over Carlisle United.
It was his only league goal for the Gills.
Nolan got a full pre-season with Gillingham this summer but the writing was on the wall after appearing for the second-string in the final week ahead of the season opener.
Nolan was a spectator at his old club Accrington as the Gills kicked off their season, but will now get the chance to play again following his return to the north west.
His new boss Ashvir Singh Johal said: “Since he left his previous club last week, he’s had a lot of interest from teams high in the pyramid, so for him to decide to join Morecambe is a real testament to what we are trying to build here.
“He’s a young player but he is vastly experienced in the EFL.
“Jack is an exciting player who is definitely going to contribute to us scoring more goals.
“He is a very mature player, he is very intelligent and I think he is going to be a massive addition to this group and our fans will really enjoy watching him play.”
