Mike Morgan, membership and compliance lead at Property Redress, has tragically passed away following a cycling accident.

“HFIS is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mike Morgan, a key figure at Property Redress and Client Money Protect, who has passed away following a cycling accident.
“Mike was a highly respected and much-loved figure in the private rented sector, known for his deep industry knowledge, legal expertise and exceptional character. His death is a tremendous loss to the entire HFIS business and the wider property industry, as well as to the many colleagues and friends who had the privilege of working and spending time with him.
“Before entering the legal and property sectors, Mike served for ten years as an officer in HM Armed Forces, an experience that shaped his approach to leadership and service throughout his career. He went on to build a legal career spanning over two decades, during which he became a qualified solicitor, accredited adjudicator (ACIArb), and achieved a professional award in Ombudsman and Complaints Handling Practice.
“As a founding figure at The Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS), Mike played a central role in developing the organisation from its early foundations into a nationally recognised tenancy deposit protection provider. He led key aspects of its dispute resolution function, advising senior leadership and implementing new operational models that improved performance and set high standards for the sector.
“In 2020, he moved to mydeposits, where he brought his experience, passion, and unique humour to the business. Mike went on to lead Property Redress and Client Money Protect membership teams, playing an instrumental role in developing their agent advice service, HF Assist, and supporting the resolution and compliance teams.”
Eddie Hooker, CEO of HFIS, shared: “Mike was a remarkable person – brilliant, warm and endlessly generous with his time and expertise. I had the privilege of working alongside him and witnessing first-hand the positive impact he made on our business and on so many people within the industry. He was not only a trusted colleague but a dear friend to me and so many others. We will miss him enormously.
“Mike had a big personality and a great sense of humour. He brought energy and warmth to every interaction and was held in great affection by his colleagues. Mike’s contribution to the business went far beyond his role. He was a much-loved member of our Government Contracts team, valued not only for his knowledge and professionalism, but for the genuine joy and positivity he brought into every area of our business.”
