Fast bowler Nathan Gilchrist is out to finish the season on a high as he prepares to leave Kent.
It was confirmed Zimbabwe-born Gilchrist, 25, will join County Championship Division 1 Warwickshire on a three-year deal at the conclusion of the 2025 campaign on Monday.
The right-armer joined in 2020, initially on loan, and has made 90 appearances across all formats in his five seasons at the county.
Gilchrist said: “This was an extremely tough decision for me to make but this is the best move for me – and for my career – at this point in time.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Kent for believing in me from day one when I arrived here as a 20-year-old, looking to prove myself back in 2020.
“I hope that I have done just that and I’m extremely proud to have been a Kent cricketer.
“I’ve made some lifelong friendships during my time at the club and, under (head coach) Adam Hollioake, I can definitely see a bright future for Kent.
“I’d also like to give a big thank you to the Kent members and supporters for all the support that they have given me during my time here.
“It’s not quite goodbye just yet and I’m fully focussed on ending this season on a high note.
“Hopefully, we can make some more great memories together to go with all of the others that we’ve made over the past five years.”
The switch could see Gilchrist reunite with ex-Kent head coach Matt Walker, who became Warwickshire’s batting coach on an initial one-year contract in February after eight years at the helm.
Gilchrist earned an England Lions call-up for a Test tour of Sri Lanka.
He only had made his Blast debut for Kent last June but played in 11 of their 14 South group games this campaign.
Director of cricket Simon Cook said: “We’re disappointed that Nathan has chosen to not sign a new contract here and move to Warwickshire, but we wish him all the very best for the future.
“He will always be welcome back at The Spitfire Ground.”
Gilchrist’s five years at Kent have also seen him strike up a close friendship with exciting batsman Tawanda Muyeye.
