Defender Conor Masterson has signed a new deal at Gillingham.
The 26-year-old was offered a new deal at the end of last season but has been considering his options, having spent the last two and a half years at Gillingham.
He’s now put pen to paper on a new one-year contract.
Former Liverpool defender Masterson first joined the Gills on loan from QPR in January 2023 and he returned for a second spell the following year before agreeing a permanent move.
Masterson has now played over 100 league games for the Gills and started all nine of the games at the end of the last season when manager Gareth Ainsworth took charge.
“I am buzzing,” he said, speaking to the club following his new deal.
“I know the club inside out, I have loved it here and have played my best football here – I am just excited to get going again. I had a good chat with Gareth and I am looking forward to it now.
“The aim (was to get it done before pre-season) and that’s what I did. I wanted to sort things out, speak to my family, my agent, everybody, and that’s what I did and come to the right conclusion.
“I have had my time off and now looking forward to getting going again.
“I have a connection here with the fans. I feel like it is a good fit.”
“We are hungry for next season – we want to go and smash it.
“We know what we are, what we want, we’ll take it one game at a time and focus on ourselves, that’s how we’ll be successful.”
