The seafront was packed with supporters cheering and clapping as those taking part crossed the finish line.
The 54-mile route saw cyclists set off from Clapham Common in London at 6am.
They tackled brutal hills through the South Downs and cycled up Ditchling Beacon before making their way through Brighton city centre to the finish line at Madeira Drive.
Now in its 49th year, the bike ride is BHF’s biggest fundraising event.
It raises around £2 million annually and funds have gone towards research into medical advances for the 7.6 million people living with heart and circulatory conditions in the UK.
The ride has seen over 700,000 cyclists take part over the years, including notable people including Pippa Middleton, the former chief scientific adviser to the government Sir Patrick Vallance and former goalkeeper David Seaman.
This year, London’s mayor Sadiq Khan was one of those taking part.
“Many of us know someone, or have heard of someone, who has suffered from or lost their life to heart disease,” he said.
“Today I’m cycling from London to Brighton in support of the British Heart Foundation.”
