Bubble Pop, which sells anime merchandise, plushies, collectable figures and Pokémon cards, opened in Bond Street in Brighton on May 15.

The chain has branches in London’s Covent Garden, Portobello Road and Spitalfields – making the Brighton store its first location outside of London.

The shop sells highly popular figurines and soft toys like Sonny Angels, Smiskis, Miffy toys, Sylvian Families, Tamagotchi, Pusheens, Palm Pals and Hello Kitty.

The unit was previously occupied by OG Kicks, a streetwear shop which closed on January 12 after four years in the city.

The last year has seen a significant turnover of businesses in Bond Street

Neighbouring business, The Fudge Patch, replaced clothing shop Stay in Your Lane on April 3. The vintage retailer closed in October 2024 after three and a half years in the city.

Just a few doors down, a pink unit occupied by another vintage clothing store, Menace, has been empty since the business relocated to Sydney Street in April.

On the opposite side of the road, the unit previously occupied by milkshake bar Shakeaway has been empty since November 2024 and a few doors down art shop Clarkes of Sussex closed after 25 years in February.
