Bradley Dack has agreed to extend his deal with League 2 Gillingham for another season.

Dack has signed a new one-year contract to extend his stay at the Gills until the summer of 2026.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “I am delighted that Bradley has signed a new deal.

“His attitude and commitment since I have been at the club has been first class and he is a great character to have in our dressing room.

“He has a positive mentality and is a real team player.

“His goal against MK Dons was a magical moment for all of us, he can produce moments of individual brilliance and I look forward to working with him in the new season.”

Dack, 31, arrived at the Gills last summer with hopes of enjoying his football again, at a club he started out as a professional. Injury had halted his progress at Championship level prior to his return a year ago.

He’d played over 150 league games for Blackburn – who signed him from the Gills for £750,000 in 2017 – before spending a year at Sunderland.

Dack’s season with the Gills failed to take off, however, with just one substitute appearance for the club in the league during the first four months.

He began to see more action during December and his first league start game was in the away game at Wimbledon just before the end of 2024.

Dack was initially involved during John Coleman’s time in charge but had to wait again for his chance, which came in the last few games of the season.

He returned for the home match against MK Dons and scored the winner in a 1-0 victory.

Speaking after that goal, he said: “Things didn’t work out under the last manager, for me personally.

“There were reasons why, yes. I won’t divulge them. We disagreed on certain things and sometimes you can’t get on with everyone.

“That was a disappointing three or four months for me, feeling like I could make a big impact in the team. I wasn’t obviously given a chance to.

“I’ve been fit for the best part of or since the start of December. I won’t get onto stuff that’s gone on at the football club, but it’s been difficult for everyone.

“Hopefully, this is a new start and we can finish these last four games off nicely and go into next year on a real high.”

Gills fans will now hope he can have an injury-free season under Ainsworth as he has already shown in glimpses that he remains a class act at this level.
