Horsham District Council closed a public consultation in early May with residents from the area about the facilities for the Highwood development and has analysed the feedback.

Now, senior councillors are set to proceed with design concepts for the proposed facilities alongside improvements to existing sporting amenities.

Ideas for the community hall include fitness and wellbeing classes, craft workshops, and social events.

The feedback also included the desire to make the football pitches and the multi-use games areas more accessible, with dedicated parking spaces.

The council’s director of place, Barbara Childs, said: “We committed in our council plan to listen, learn and improve our services by increasing community involvement.

“My thanks go out to everyone who took part in our public survey for Highwood facilities for the future.

“We very much value your feedback which will help us tailor the amenities there to the needs of residents and the neighbourhood.”

The proposals are set to be discussed at a cabinet meeting on May 21.

“Next steps will involve developing more detailed designs and consultation for planning,” the council said.
