The picnic benches in Rouken Glen Park have been taped off after one was reportedly destroyed in a blaze last weekend.

Park officials say the fire took place between the evening of May 3 and the morning of May 4.

Nearby fencing is also said to have been damaged during the incident.

Officials went on to slam the ‘senseless vandalism’ and said they were ‘deeply disappointed’.

In a statement published to Rouken Glen Park’s Facebook page, it notes that repairing this area will come at ‘significant and needless expense’ to East Renfrewshire Council.
