Voters across the borough turned out yesterday (May 1) to elect their county councillors.

Reform UK gained seats across the borough, with Thomas Mallon being the only candidate to keep their seat, holding his Reform UK seat for Swanscombe & Greenhithe.

Following his victory, Mallon said: “We made history in Kent today.

“We’ve got six out of six Dartford councillors elected.

“That was not through fault or luck; it was through hard work, determination, sweat and blood.

“That’s why we got elected.”

The other winning candidates were:

  • Ryan Andrew Waters (Dartford East)
  • Ben Robert Fryer (Dartford North East)
  • Michael David Brown (Dartford Rural)
  • Beverley Fordham (Dartford West)
  • Alan Stanley Cecil (Wilmington)

Besides Swanscombe & Greenhithe, the other divisions were under the Conservative or Labour parties.

Mallon added: “This is a movement that’s going faster and faster.

“Each week, our membership is growing, and the only way for Reform is up.

“We are now going to Kent County Council, we’re going to see what we can do in Kent, and then see if we can emulate across the country in 2029.”

Ballots were verified from 10am today (May 2) at Dartford Civic Centre, with counting beginning shortly after.

The results were announced throughout the afternoon.
