Public warned not to walk underneath Bognor Regis Pier

Arun District Council has advised the public to avoid Bognor Pier today, April 28.

The authority said “structural damage” has been discovered at the seafront attraction.

A statement reads: “Warning – due to structural damage, please do not walk underneath the Bognor Regis Pier.

“This is for your information and safety.

Bognor Pier first opened on May 4, 1865, built at a cost of £5,000.

It has suffered significant damage during its lifespan, including severe storm damage in 1964 and 1965.
