The closure is for “routine safety inspections and maintenance”.

It will be shut from 10pm on Saturday, April 26 until 5am on Sunday, April 27.

National Highways has also announced that painting work will take place on the bridge from April until October.

This will “protect some of its metal components from corrosion”.

Most of the painting work will be done without disrupting traffic.

In 2024, a temporary walkway was set up on the bridge for workers to access areas that need painting.

This will remain in place over “the coming years”.

However, some areas will need overnight lane closures.

This will be between 10pm and 5.30am, with only one lane remaining open.

National Highways said: “We’ll need to install overnight lane closures across the bridge.”
