Michael Fry, 43, was charged with two counts of rape of a man, causing a male aged 13 or over to engage in penetrative sexual activity, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and blackmail.

Fry, of New England Street, Brighton, pleaded not guilty to blackmail, the two counts of rape and causing a male aged 13 or over to engage in penetrative sexual activity at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 10.

He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on May 8.

The offences allegedly took place between April 2 and April 5 at Fry’s address in New England Street.

The victim, an adult male who cannot be identified for legal reasons, made a report to Sussex Police on April 5.

He has since been receiving support from specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Superintendent Richard McDonagh said: “This is a complex and wide-ranging investigation, and we are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who may hold vital information.
