Helen Reid, 31, was the first woman across the finish line today, April 6. 

Helen, from London, completed the marathon in 2:52:58. 

It wasn’t Helen’s first victory at the marathon, having won the race back in 2023. 

Speaking to The Argus after the run, Helen said: “It feels so incredible. 

“I am so pleased to have managed to do it again.

“Every time someone cheered, it made me speed up. 

“It made me go faster and feel less pain. 

“I want to say thank you to everyone who came out.

“There were so many families, mums and young girls who were just so supportive. 

“Brighton is such a great place and has such lovely vibes.

“I think we’re going to go to the pub, have some bubbles, just celebrate.

“I can’t wait.”

Flaminia Gold, 33, was the second woman to cross the finish line, completing the marathon in 2:54:44.

Flaminia, from Pease Pottage, said she was “elated”.

“This is my 12th marathon. 

“I always do this one. It feels like a home crowd. 

“The crowd were ridiculous, incredible. 

“They seem to love women beating boys.

“There was a lot of girl power.

“It was a little bit gusty but nothing dramatic. 

“It was almost perfect.”

Emily Marchant, 34, was the third woman across the finish line, running during her hen weekend. 

The bride-to-be, from Swansea, is getting married to her fiancée Charlotte in four weeks and got in from a night out at 3am today.

“I got a text at halfway from my supporters saying I was making my way up the field so I just thought, ‘Go for it’.

“I chased a few girls down and I’m just so happy to be on the podium.

“We got here yesterday, had a sports day and we’ve got a lovely balcony so had a few drinks there and then went out last night, so I was feeling questionable this morning.”
