The Glasgow Times previously reported that Grant Paterson, 54, is being treated for third-degree burns across 75% of his body in Sant Eugenio Hospital.

STV News reported this week that doctors were due to perform a skin graft on Grant’s damaged skin and that he is currently breathing with the assistance of mechanical ventilation.

His condition is believed to be critical but stable.

(Image: (Image: Image from Grant’s Facebook)) It comes after Grant arrived in Rome for Holiday on March 17 when a blast destroyed the B&B he was staying at on Sunday, March 23. 

Roberto Gualtieri, mayor of Rome, said initial findings suggest the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak.

Now, a crowdfunder has been set up to raise money for Grant’s daughter, who appears to be in Italy with her father. 

The fundraiser was set up on Just Giving recently and has already raised over £11,150 at the time of writing. 

The person who set up the fundraiser wrote: “I’m fundraising money to send Grant Paterson’s daughter to help with any costs while she is in Italy with him.

“Please keep him in your thoughts

“Love you big guy x”
