Margo, based on Miller Street in the city centre, was presented with the prestigious trophy and title at the Scottish Excellence Awards (SEA) earlier this week.

Part of Scottish restaurant group, Scoop, Margo only opened its doors last Autumn and is led by head chef, Robin Aitken.
(Image: Images of Margo team) Judges of the SEA said Margo finished ahead of the highly commended 1635 at the Knipoch Hotel, near Oban as well as Cafe Cuil on the Isle of Skye, and the Spain-inspired Cafe Buena Vida on Glasgow’s Victoria Road.
However, this is not the restaurant’s first accolade, having won the Michelin Bib Gourmand just four months after opening.

Aside from Margo – which is the sister restaurant of Sebb’s – another Glasgow businesses, Hilton Glasgow, took home the Group Hotel of the Year Award.
Judges included some of Scotland’s leading chefs and hotel owners like National Chef Gary Maclean of City of Glasgow College, Roberta Hall-McCarron, Executive Chef of the Little Chartroom and Eleanore in Edinburgh, Caroline Gregory of the Lovat Hotel and Restaurant in Fort Augustus, and Jill Chalmers, Managing Director of Glenapp Castle Hotel in South Ayrshire.
