The line is currently closed due to the outage, with services facing delays, changes, and cancellations.

Alternative routes are available from Glasgow Central to Lanark, Newton via Kings Park, and from Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk High/Shotts.

Glasgow Queen Street to Falkirk Grahamston is also an option.

Overhead line engineers are addressing the power loss between Exhibition Centre and Rutherglen.

Scotrail shared the announcement on X saying: “Due to a failure of the electricity supply between Rutherglen and Cambuslang, the line is closed. Services will be subject to delays, alterations and cancellations

“Alternative Train Routes, Glasgow Central to Lanark, Glasgow Central to Newton via Kings Park, Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk High/Shotts and Glasgow Queen Street to Falkirk Grahamston.”

Network Rail also shared a statement on the app, saying: “Our overhead line engineers are on their way to Bridgeton.

“Responding to a loss of power to the overhead wires between Exhibition Centre and Rutherglen.

“We’ll share more news soon.”
