The school on Lennard Road, Beckenham, achieved an impressive Progress 8 score of 0.99, and the latest Department for Education Performance Tables now rank the school 88th nationally, confirming it as the highest-performing non-selective school in Bromley.
Progress 8 is the government’s key measure of how much progress students make between key stage two and key stage four based on results across eight qualifications.
A score above zero indicates pupils are making better progress than expected, and Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley’s score of 0.99 places it in the “well above average” band, meaning students here significantly outperform their peers nationally.
Alongside its strong progress score, the school also saw 69.7 per cent of pupils achieve Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs, well above the national average.
These results are particularly impressive given the challenges posed by Covid-19, which affected students’ early years of secondary education.
David Astin, Executive Principal of Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley, said: “It is fantastic to be in the top 100 schools in the country for progress.
“Not only does this achievement reflect the high academic standards we have set at Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley but it also shows our commitment to providing each of our students with the support, attention and challenge they need to achieve their very best.
“Our students continually amaze me by their hard work, their dedication and their determination and it has been wonderful to see them take full advantage of all the opportunities available here.
“The success of our students is only possible thanks to the hard work of our superb staff who do everything they can to support our students.
“We are very fortunate to have such an inspirational team here and I would like to thank them for their tireless energy and enthusiasm.”
