He said: “Our teams continue to make good progress on repairing the burst main on Lancing Way in Polegate by pumping water out of the excavation site.
“We currently estimate around 2000 properties remain without water in the Pevensey Bay area. However, there may also be customers on higher ground who are experiencing low pressure or no water while we repair the burst main.
“Our customer care team is delivering water to our customers on the Priority Services Register who are in most need, and we are continuing to support the care homes, hospitals and schools.
“A bottled water station is open (05 March 2025) at Eastbourne Angling Club, Royal Parade, BN22 7LA and will remain open until 10:30pm.
“Our teams will continue to work throughout the night and the road closure will remain in place for the safety of the public and our workforce.
“We thank our customers for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out these repairs.”
