Okome has asked Glasgow City Council for planning permission to transform a vacant retail unit at 252 Dumbarton Road into an eatery. 

The spot was previously occupied by Superdrug.

The planning support statement says the only external change to the building would be the erection of an extraction flute from the kitchen to the rear of the property. 

The statement continued: “The proposed change of use of this vacant unit into a restaurants will introduce a new dining venue to the area.

“In addition the new venue represents investment in the area, which in turn will provide employment opportunities and a rates return to the city.”

A decision on the plans is expected to be made by Thursday, April 17.

Okome serves dishes such as rice bowls, poke bowls, ramen and sushi. 

We previously reported the chain opened the doors to its newest restaurant on Drymen Road in Bearsden last month. 

The brand has other location across Glasgow and the surrounding area including on Byres Road in the West End and Pollokshaws Road in the Southside.
